Judy Movie Review

Here is a Judy movie review, Movie is directed by Rupert Goold and it is a biographical movie about American singer and actress Judy Garland. The movie follows Judy’s career during the last year of her life while she relocated her stage profession to Britain. The movie Starring Renée Zellweger (as Judy Garland) in the lead role, Jessie Buckley, Finn Wittrock, Rufus Sewell, and Michael Gambon.

Some award-winning movies entertain, enthrall and captivate your imagination, while some don’t necessarily do that-

Judy falls into the latter type. It does not entertain.

Having said that, the intent is bonafide, the originality of the story is worth applauding and powerful acting performance just mesmerizes you, but this film does not entertain you.

Renée Zellweger won the best actress Oscar award for this movie for the character of a singer she played in this movie.

Adapted by Tom Edge from the stage play End of the Rainbow by Peter Quilter, and ably directed by Rupert Goold, this is a thorough workout for Renee Zellweger’s talents.

While movie faltered on many counts and thus failed to keep me engrossed and engaged, Renee Zellweger is phenomenally good and she nails the performance aspect.

It’s undoubtedly Zellweger’s film.

Most of the other characters are very clipped and peripheral. So this imbalance makes it a tough task to sit through and watch this film.

The flashbacks to Judy’s early years are a little heavy-handed and a drag.

Those who want to appreciate an individual performance can watch this movie with the riders as mentioned above.

Those looking for wholesome entertainment can give it a pass.

Better spend that time/money in watching Harriet.
