Before you go and see this movie, please watch a specific episode (episode Number 4) in the Netflix TV series Greatest Events of world war 2 with a title Midway as this is indeed one of the greatest events that would be remembered forever as it turned the tide against the USA in world war 2.

I have given below the screenshot of this series to enable you easily locate this series on Netflix.

So this is a story of a naval battle that happened to surround the American Island with a name Midway in the Pacific, which is around 200 nautical miles from Pearl Harbor.

To avenge the Pearl Harbor attack, America sends Bomber planes to Tokyo (although it would mean just a token attack to show Japan that America is now serious about how far they can go) deployed from the nearest point to Japan ( in terms of  flyable distance for the planes ) and they succeed to bomb Tokyo,  although these bomber pilots are unable to return to their launching battleships as these ships are forced to return to their base to avoid getting detected and destroyed by Japanese Navy. So these Bomber planes land in Japan occupied a territory of China or just perish in the sea below as they run out of fuel.  The pilots who land in Japan occupied China get captured and killed or tortured.

But Japan gets enraged due to this attack on Tokyo as some of the bombs fall on the Emperor’s palace and warmongering Japanese Generals get another reason to plan another attack on America.

They now plan to destroy the remaining 4 Naval battleships of America by laying a trap at Midway Island.  Japanese plan is to send 2 navy ships to attack Midway Island thus enticing Americans to send their 4 battleships to protect their territory. Once these American ships are out in the open in the vast sea, the Japanese plan to send a whole squadron to bomb them and destroy them and send them to the bottom of the pacific ocean.

But by some strange coincidences and stroke of luck and some smart thinking by Admiral Nimitz who has taken charge at Pearl Harbor, Americans get to know about this Japanese plan and they start mobilizing the available resources to thwart this.

This turns the tide of World War 2 in favor of the allied forces and thus this is the most important event in World War 2.

What you see on the screen are visual delight and blitzkrieg and a war spectacle.

You gotta go and see it to believe it (as Americans say it).

Extreme high production values, the fast-paced screenplay and the gravity of the situation that unfolds are just riveting and gripping.

    Don’t miss it.
